It takes a team
Redesigning the timesheet was a complex undertaking made possible by engaging a variety of stakeholders early, and throughout the project. Customers, product owners, sales/support, and development all contributed to the scope, definition, testing, and final design for the module. Including our technical sales & implementation colleagues helped to identify unusual customer configurations & data, making the design more flexible and successful for all customers.
You’re very direct
One of my qualities, for better or worse, is direct communication. I am okay being vulnerable, saying “I don’t know” or “Can you help me understand?”. I am equally okay giving and receiving tactful, thoughtful, and honest feedback. I believe that being transparent and direct with one another builds trust. We identify problems and work through them together, with open communication and humility.
What are you proud of?
For me, this is a difficult question to answer. Yes, there are a lot of things I feel good about in my career. But the truth is, your accomplishments are rarely yours alone. For all I have achieved, I have had supporters, mentors, and cheerleaders. People that challenge, and those that criticize - each of whom have all contributed to the things I am most proud of.
Growing the UX Practice at WorkForce
I was the 2nd UX hire at WorkForce. We started with no formal process, design system, or team. I did not hire in as a UX Director. However, it was clear we needed more structure if we were to meet the challenge of a full suite redesign. The team grew from 2 to 8. I mentored and grew our collective skills. I championed a component library and design system. Established process, encouraged research. As a servant leader, I work with people and information to remove barriers to success.
